The wait is finally over! The Queen’s Feast Restaurant Week starts this Friday. Local chefs and restaurant owners have been planning their menus for months for what promises to be North Carolina’s premier foodie event. If your list of “must try” fine dining establishments has been growing lately, now is your golden opportunity to see what all the fuss is about.
Regardless of what your favorite cuisines and foods are, from Asian to vegan, beef to seafood, artisanal cheeses to heirloom tomatoes, chances are your taste buds will be in heaven! Moreover, scores of local restaurants have embraced the “Farm to Table” philosophy and North Carolina’s bounty of succulent summertime produce will be in the hands of some of the country’s most masterful chefs. This gastronomic extravaganza takes place from July 19th through the 28th. That’s right-10 days of culinary excellence right here in the greater Charlotte area!
Over 100 restaurants are participating in the Queen’s Feast. Prospective diners are advised to plan ahead by reviewing menus, locations, and definitely securing reservations. Some, but not all of the dining establishments, have set up the online Open Table service, so guests can make their own reservations. Please note that the Queen’s Feast is for dinner service only. Each guest will be able to enjoy a 3-course meal for just $30. Beverages, tax, and gratuities are not included.
In addition to the delicious offerings from some of the Queen City’s best restaurants, adventurous diners will also be able to explore neighborhood eateries in areas such as historic Dilworth, lovely Lake Norman, and lively Uptown.
If you think the Queen’s Feast sounds like a great excuse for a road trip, you’re in good company! Amtrak and several area hotels are offering special discounts to foodie visitors. The event planners have also come up with a wonderful way to give back to the community. During the Queen’s Feast, a new phone app will be launched. If you choose to try it, your dinner bill will be rounded up to the next highest dollar amount and the difference will go to Plate Share’s campaign to end hunger.
