Charlotte Labor Day Parade – Monday, September 3, 2012 at 10:00am, Pearl Street Park to Marshall Park in Charlotte, NC.  Get more details: Charlotte NC Labor Day Parade

Matthews Alive Festival – August 31 through September 3, 2012 at the corner of John and Trade streets in Matthews, NC.  Find the event map here: matthewsalive.org/map.php

Labor Day Weekend has long been regarded as the closing bookend to the summer season.  And here in Charlotte, we celebrate the unofficial start of Fall  with tons of fun things to do over Labor Day Weekend.  Here’s a list of some of the events and activities happening around Charlotte over Labor Day.

Charlotte Labor Day Parade – Monday, September 5th at 11:00 a.m.  The parade begins at Hal Marshal Center in uptown Charlotte and ends at the intersection of Tryon and Third Street.

Matthews Alive Festival – Friday, September 2nd through Monday, September 5th.  Featuring a huge Labor Day Parade plus 3 live music stages with full schedules, arts and crafts vendors, rides, games, amusements, pony rides and train rides.  Attracts over 200,000 people and is dedicated to the support of local non-profit organizations through music, arts and community involvement.  For more info, visit matthewsalive.org

Labor Day Celebration at the Whitewater Center – Sunday, September 4th at 4:00 p.m.  Free concert featuring the Steep Canyon Rangers and friends as well as a Fireworks show at dusk.  Take in the events at the U.S. National Whitewater Center during the day and enjoy the free concert and fireworks in the evening.  For more info, visit usnwc.org.

7th St.Labor Day Block Party – Sunday, September 4th at 1:00 p.m. at the corner of 7th St and N. Caswell in the Elizabeth neighborhood.  Put on by Kennedy’s, Jack’s, PStone and Sub Station II with live music, wing eating contests, and a cornhole tournament.  Pet friendly celebration!

Labor Day Classic 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway at NASCAR Hall of Fame – Sunday, September 4th from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.  The Belk High Octane Theater at the NASCAR Hall of Fame presents a Race Day Experience featuring the 64′ wide, curved projection screen, complete with surround sound and in-car audio feeds.  For more info, visit nascarhall.com.

    FYI – They are not doing a NASCAR Race Experience at the hall for the Atlanta race this weekend. It’s not on their website and I just called the hall, and they also said there is not one this weekend.
