Choosing a Charlotte Property? Consider Your Commute…

July 6th, 2010 categories: Buying your Home

Charlotte Commute

So often, new home buyers invest in property based on the distance from where they work and how long it will take them to drive from home to work to home again. Some of us might think this methodology for researching Charlotte Real Estate information might not be the wisest way to go, because if you want to live in a particular area; why should the drive have anything to do with buying a new Charlotte property?

Charlotte CommuteCharlotte Commute Considerations:

Unfortunately, we do have to consider our lifestyles when purchasing a Charlotte property, especially if we are trying to reduce our carbon footprint. The transit system here is still in its infancy, and there are only so many options for commuting to Uptown, South Charlotte, University City, Matthews, Lake Norman, or Mt. Island Lake.

  • If you’re interested in an equestrian lifestyle, then Weddington and Waxhaw are two popular areas to look for a new home in South Charlotte.
  • If you are relocating to Charlotte to work in the new Charlotte Research Institute, or perhaps teach at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, you’ll probably want to look into north Charlotte real estate and Harrisburg homes for sale, or how about even Mint Hill properties?
  • If you want to look for homes near the Arboretum, then check out Pineville homes for sale. Plus, you will want to investigate any Charlotte MLS listings for the Raintree, Ballantyne, and even Piper Glen areas.
  • The Charlotte airport is has easy access from any direction.

Getting from South Charlotte to Uptown is not that difficult, especially if you leave your home around 7:00AM. The traffic is just starting to accumulate and you can still get to the John Belk within about twenty minutes or less. That’s if you’re doing the driving yourself.

Homes near public transportation are easy to find thanks to the many “park and ride” stops throughout Mecklenburg County. Uptown Charlotte condos for sale will put you into a home near the light rail train system, which makes traveling from Uptown to South Charlotte very easy to do.

Where ever you decide to live, you don’t have to base your decision on where you work. After all, there is so much new construction commercial real estate in Charlotte that your company could very well open a branch or relocate to just about anywhere in the Queen City! So go ahead, buy your new home in Charlotte in any direction, chances are the commute won’t be so bad.
