Montibello, Best Neighborhood in South Charlotte?

Is Montibello the “best” neighborhood, “best” location in Charlotte?
OK full disclosure Rhonda and I have lived in Montibello for five years and it’s been a favorite of mine since moving here in 1992!
Sure there are plenty of new developments with brand new Charlotte homes (very nice) with soaring ceilings, walk-in closets as big as my college dorm room, kitchen that look like a Food Network set and of course master suites and baths that border on royalty. Hmmm….maybe Montibello is not the best after all?
Truth? There really is no “best”neighborhood in Charlotte
…one person might love the newer construction while another (like me) likes the traditional home – a Charlotte home with charm, heirloom trees, large lots and location, location, location. Montibello is like that nestled right between the panache of Southpark and the buzz of Ballantyne, close enough to box stores, Lowes, Staples, Walmart but out of sight until you need them.
So now what? What’s a newcomer to Charlotte to do? My advice is always is to…explore. Find a Charlotte Realtor who really knows the Charlotte area preferably someone who’s lived here a awhile and then pick their brain. You’ll find the perfect home whether its a spanking new home in Quellin or a traditional Charlotte charmer in Montibello. Burn Baby Burn|Charlotte weather

I’m not talking about disco dancing; I’m talking about the hot Charlotte weather of summer! The Charlotte area offers a number of places to splash around and cool down when it feels like you’re burning up.
Ray’s Splash Planet is located Uptown at 215 N Sycamore St. It’s a one-of-a-kind water park filled with amusement features for the kids as well as a state of the art fitness center with an aerobics and dance room, cardiovascular theater, free weights, and resistance equipment. Charlotte is a Perfect Four (seasons)!

Actually I think we all feel Charlotte is perfect especially at this time of year. As the summer turns to fall and our minds turn from warm days and gorgeous beach sunsets to crisp fall football weekends and mountain foliage. I know sounds like some sappy commercial but it’s true Charlotte is so close to the mountains and the beach that you will once again fall in love with the change of seasons!
Blake says it best….
“Whether it is the beach or the mountains you like, Charlotte is surely close to both. I love my city life, but it is nice to be able to go away for a short weekend to a beautiful beach or a nice mountain inn. I love both of the beaches I have visited……Wrightsville Beach in North Carolina is laid back the quaint town within walking distance. While Charleston, South Carolina on the other hand has such great history to learn about in the downtown area and then there are so many beautiful beaches to choose from close by. We love the Wild Dunes resort. And remember with temperate weather the beaches are really a year round attraction for Charlotteans!
If you are up for more of a getaway into the mountains, I must recommend the Grove Park Inn. It has a amazing golf course and spa with wonderful accommodations and great restaurants to choose from, you don’t even need to leave the resort if you don’t want to. Asheville, is right there known for its funky art and eclectic restaurants. And don’t miss the Biltmore Christmas a must do! There is something for everyone in Asheville and best of all you could do it in a day trip if you wanted to from Charlotte. Inn, this is about 15 minutes from the Grove Park and full of great history and tours to choose from. They also have wonderful gardens, a winery, horse back riding tours, even some off-roading in SUVs if that is your pleasure. How I came about these homes is I chose to pull statistics about the Charlotte Real Estate Market from the mls based on a list price over $1million that have priced decreases of 15% or more, list prices from $650,000 to $1million that have at least a 10% decrease, and listing prices that are under $650,000 that have had at least a 5% decrease in price. A Calm in the Perfect Storm

All smiles. Is it the awesome home in The Crossings (at Steele Creek) that Jordan and Christian plucked out of foreclosure? Is it the nuptials that followed shortly thereafter? I think it’s a little bit of both.
The Gratix’s are the “poster couple” for how the current Charlotte real estate market is working
…and as you can tell from their Charlotte Realtor Rhonda Gibbons…it is working really well!
The Gratrix’s new home is like the calm in the real estate perfect storm – Jordan and Christina did it right! They did their homework, did a lot of leg work looking at many homes and most importantly they acted quickly and reasonably when they found the perfect home. Not all first time home buyers are so lucky (especially buying a Charlotte foreclosure) – there are a lot of pitfalls, mostly hidden. What you don’t know will hurt you! The Gratix’s were savvy enough to rely on their Realtor who knew this complex local market and to trust their combined instincts. All in all it’s quite a story – and to top it off – taking advantage of the first time homebuyer tax credit the Gratrix’s will be pumping some money into the local economy (Home Depot (and Lowes) here we come!). In a stormy climate Jordan and Christina truly found a calm in the storm!

“We figured it would be 3-5 years before we’d own a home , except for the fact that now we don’t have to save that much longer because we’re getting the money back,” Christina said.
The money they’re getting back: 8 thousand dollars. It’s the first-time homebuyer tax credit. The deadline to qualify is Friday, April 30 — 6 days away — making some Realtors more busy than they’ve been in the past year.
“I had several listings that I thought were perfect for first time homebuyers and they got snatched up last week” Remax Executive Realtor Rhonda Gibbons told WBTV.
