NC Sales Tax Holiday Big Hit in Charlotte!

August 4th, 2008 categories: Charlotte Living

OK so I couldn’t convince my wife Rhonda that an “no tax” iPhone was a bargain!
This past weekend was the ever popular sales tax holiday weekend ~ where shoppers at retail stores like Southpark Mall’s Apple**, Abercrombie & Fitch, Belk and the rest got a break from NC state sales taxes! Started a few years ago the holiday was designed to juice up retail sales and give parents a break on “back to School” shopping. Stella Hopkins covers the story here for the Charlotte Observer. In part, “The average family will spend nearly $600, the retail group said. On that average bill, this weekend’s tax break for eligible items would be more than $40, based on Mecklenburg’s 7.25 percent tax rate.”

Charlotte is so lucky to have its own flagship Apple Store ~ shopping, onsite support and training. And you an wait in line for the latest iPOD inside the Southpark mall!
